ICA 2021 Graduate Student Mini Grant Call for Proposals

Dear ICA student members,

Are there any current games that you would love to play — for research purposes — but are reluctant to purchase due to the cost? If so, we have a great opportunity for you! Submit a short proposal to the ICA Game Studies Division for up to $100 to spend on such a game along with a description of how this game will inform your scholarship. After reviewing the proposals, our division officers will award the funds at our ICA 2021 business meeting. We are committing at least $1,000 to this initiative and we will try to support as many proposals as possible. We hope that this initiative helps facilitate your research goals and will possibly contribute to submissions for the ICA 2022 conference!

Proposal Details

In no more than 400 words, please answer the following questions:

  • What is your current status as a student (e.g., 3rd year PhD student, ABD)
  • What game would you like to purchase?
  • How will this game inform your future scholarship? Note: this does not need to be a thorough study plan, though any details will be helpful for reviewing.
  • How does your research project with this game relate to other previous scholarly endeavors in your field(s) of interest?

Please send your proposals in .docx format to rar AT msu DOT edu by April 20, 2021.

Note: You must be an ICA Game Studies Division student member to be awarded the funds. If you are not currently a member, please mention your intent to join before the conference in May and we will take your word for it.
